MARSHALL, Texas -- The LeTourneau baseball team could not keep pace with a potent East Texas Baptist offense in a pair of losses on Thursday night at Woods Field.
LeTourneau (19-15, 11-4 ASC) fell in the first game, 20-3, before falling in game two, 26-3.
In the first game, the YellowJackets scored twice in the first inning on a
Luke Land two-run single that plated
Dane Jones and
Austin Wiederhold for a 2-0 lead. LeTourneau threatened for more, but a lineout double play ended the inning.
ETBU (22-11, 9-2 ASC) scored 12 runs in its half of the inning and pulled away from there. The Tigers hit five home runs in the victory.
Landon Stocks (0-2) got the loss on the mound for LeTourneau. Land and Jones had two hits each in the loss.
Blake Vice hit his third home run of the season, a solo shot in the fourth inning.
Braden Hodge (1-0) earned the win for ETBU.
In game two, ETBU scored 14 runs in the first inning en route to the victory.
Five different YellowJackets had hits in the loss as
Xander Nabors, Land,
Jack Kale,
Hayden Norris, and
Zach Baker all had one each.Â
Baker hit his first home run of the season in the third inning, a solo blast to left field. Kale also hit a solo home run in the fourth inning, his third of the year.Â
Connor Massimini had three home runs and six RBIs for the Tigers. Jagger Neely (2-1) went six innings to pick up the win.
Dalton Pickett (2-2) had the loss for LeTourneau.
