ABILENE, Texas -- The No. 4-seed LeTourneau men's tennis team dominated No. 5 seed Howard Payne in a 4-0 victory in the quarterfinal round of the ASC Tournament on Thursday afternoon in Abilene.
LeTourneau (9-10) advances to face No. 1 seed Hardin-Simmons on Friday at 2 p.m. in Abilene.
The YellowJackets had little resistance defeating Howard Payne (1-14) for the second time in 10 days. LeTourneau took the top two flights in doubles, and led in the third, to go ahead 1-0 in the match and then took the first three completed singles matches to clinch the win.
LeTourneau will play in the ASC Tournament semifinals for the first time since 2022.Â
Zach Farris and
Fernando Vazquez coasted to a 6-1 win at the top doubles flight over Howard Payne's Riley Harker and Michael Woodard.
Andrew Reiman and
Diego Maldonado outlasted Gabriel Keeney-McCollough and Nicolas Gates in a tiebreak 7-6(0) to clinch the doubles point.
Timothy Black and
Hayden Harry led Parker Hoel and River Prado by a 6-5 score at the No. 3 flight when LeTourneau seized the doubles point.
Farris extended the YellowJacket lead to 2-0 in the match with his 6-3, 6-1 win over Gates at the top flight. Maldonado then defeated Hoel at No. 5 6-2, 6-1 to make it 3-0.
Reiman clinched the win with his 6-1, 6-2 win over Woodard at the No. 2 spot. The win was Reiman's team-leading 14th singles victory of the season.
Liam Wedge,
Brayden Money, and Vazquez all had taken the first set in each of their matches.
