BROWNWOOD, Texas -- LeTourneau softball's offense kicked it into a different gear on Friday as they swept ASC rival Howard Payne by scores of 17-2 and 20-2 in Brownwood.
Jaci Taylor (game one) and
Raina Doggett (game two) each tied the program record for RBIs in a single game (6), while the offense as a whole set a new program record for runs scored in a doubleheader (37), helping get the YellowJackets back into the win column.
GAME ONE: LeTourneau 17, Howard Payne 2
Jaci Taylor homered and tied a program single-game record with six RBIs as LeTourneau ran away with a 17-2 victory in Friday's opener.
Taylor went 4-for-5 with a home run, double, and six RBIs in the victory. She became the fourth player in program history to record six RBIs in a game, and the first since Katelyn Trombley in 2018.
Taylor was part of a four-run second inning that gave LeTourneau a 4-0 lead.
Maddie Flanery put the YellowJackets on the board with an RBI single before Taylor blasted a three-run homer to left field.
The home run was Taylor's second of the year.
LeTourneau blew the game wide open with a seven-run fourth inning. The YellowJackets totaled seven hits in the frame, including a two-run homer from
Kylie Grisham. The home run was Grisham's second of the season.
Taylor and
Kirstin Ferguson each had two-run doubles in the inning as LeTourneau extended the lead to 11-0.
Ferguson (4-6) went all five innings, scattering five hits and one earned run to pick up the win.
LeTourneau tacked on six more runs in the fifth. Taylor had an RBI single while
Rylie Shipp, Ferguson, and Flanery also collected run-scoring hits.
Flanery went 3-for-5 with three RBIs and Ferguson was 3-for-4 with four RBIs.
Payton Bauer and
Leighton Landreth had two hits apiece.
Destiny Sanchez (2-7) picked up the loss in the circle for Howard Payne. Annie-Klein Good went 2-for-3 with a homer to lead the host Yellow Jackets.
GAME TWO: LeTourneau 20, Howard Payne 2

Behind a grand slam and a two-RBI single, she matched
Jaci Taylor's program record-tying RBI output in a game (6), while the rest of the offense continued pouring it on with a 20-2 win in game two.
It was a season-high for both runs (20) and hits (21) for the YellowJackets, helping them set the new program high with 37 runs scored between the two games.
Jaci Taylor continued her excellent day at the plate with another trio of hits and a quartet of RBIs,
Maddie Flanery added four hits and three RBIs, while
Kylie Grisham,
Leighton Landreth,
Maddi Smith, and
Lexi Dodson added multi-hit efforts.
From the circle,
Laney Taylor and
Hannah Decker kept the Howard Payne offense at bay, surrendering a run each in their five combined innings of work. Taylor (3-8) earned the victory.
Landreth set the table early in game two with her second homer of the season in the first inning, a two-run shot that brought home Grisham, staking LeTourneau out to an early 2-0 lead.
They weren't nearly done.
A 12-run second inning, in which 15 batters came to the plate for the YellowJackets, put the game away for LeTourneau. Taylor collected a pair of hits and RBIs in this frame, while Doggett added her grand slam and
Alexa Neilon added an RBI hit of her own.
LeTourneau added six more runs in the third inning, two of which came home on Doggett's single to give her the six RBIs.
The YellowJackets shut the door from there, cruising to the five-inning win, and now improve to 10-16 (2-2) on the campaign.
Bryce Allen-Bourland hit a homer in game two for Howard Payne, while Madison Garza also picked up an RBI. Ava Aviles (2-6) was handed the loss, as Howard Payne falls to 6-16 (0-2) for the season.
