LONGVIEW, Texas -- LeTourneau women's soccer looked to bounce back after its first loss of the season, and they did so in spectacular fashion.
The YellowJackets had a flurry of goals against MUW, walking away with a 5-0 victory. LeTourneau, still undefeated at home, moves to 5-1-1 overall, tying the best seven-match start in program history.Â
The first goal of the match came in an uncommon fashion, as a corner kick by
Michelle Olivas went off the hands of the Owls' keeper and into the net, resulting in a 1st-minute own goal, and a 1-0 LeTourneau lead.
The first traditional YellowJacket goal came in the 18th minute, as
Chanel Kemball-Cook sent a through ball into the box, where
Lana Whiteman set up
Camila Andrade for her second goal of the season. Kemball-Cook and Whiteman were credited with an assist on the play.
LeTourneau kept the foot on the gas, as not even five minutes later, Olivas was set up by
Sarah Wyatt, who sent a 25-yard rocket over the keeper's outstretched frame. This extended the lead to 3-0, and was Olivas' second goal (22') of her senior campaign.
Kemball-Cook took advantage of a penalty kick in the 28th minute, hitting the top left corner for her conference-leading sixth goal of the year.Â
Despite leading 4-0 in the second half, the YellowJackets were not finished.
Reagan Parks found the left side of the net in the 73rd minute, after a fantastic lead pass from Whiteman, who notched her second assist of the match.Â
Clarissa Martinez,
Jaye Dugan, and
Avery Gortney played the full 90 minutes, as the back line held the Owls (0-6-1) to just three shots all match.Â
Kinsey Fulks and
Kelauna Cruz split time in the net, each playing a half. Both keepers picked up a save in the contest.Â
For MUW, Cam Lopez had a busy afternoon, gathering 12 saves in the loss.
