LONGVIEW, Texas -- LeTourneau women's soccer was blanked by Texas Lutheran on Sunday afternoon, 5-0, at the LETU Soccer Field.
LeTourneau falls to 5-3-1 (0-2-0 SCAC), while the Bulldogs improve to 4-3-0 (2-0-0).
Kinsey Fulks made eight stops in the match, keeping the Bulldog offense at bay to the best of her ability, while
Avery Gortney and
Clarissa Martinez played all 90 minutes defensively.
Callie Brame got Texas Lutheran on the board first with her 17th minute goal, and then assisted on Kristina Cromwell's goal in the 39th minute to extend the lead to 2-0. The YellowJacket defense held their ground the rest of the half, though, as the Bulldog offense could not muster much.
LeTourneau could not hold off the Texas Lutheran attackers for too much longer, as the Bulldogs added three goals in the second half, aided by a YellowJacket red card. Lilly Noblett (62'), Natalia Cortez (72'), and Ariana Gomez (81'), with Brame recording another assist on Noblett's goal.
LeTourneau's best scoring chance came in the 26th minute, when a YellowJacket corner kick deflected weakly off the foot of
Chanel Kemball-Cook to the open side of the net, but Alysa Marquez stopped it just in the nick of time.
Sarah Wyatt and
Kathy Villareal also added shots on goal for LeTourneau.
