LONGVIEW, Texas -- LeTourneau women's soccer secured a major 2-1 conference win over the Ozarks Eagles on Sunday afternoon at the Joyce Family Athletic Village.
LeTourneau (8-2-1, 2-1-1 SCAC) needed just the first four minutes of the second half to secure the victory, netting a pair of goals right out of the break.
After a deadlocked first half,
Sarah Wyatt needed just 94 seconds to score her second goal of the season and put the YellowJackets ahead.Â
Kennedy Gortney split a pair of Eagles (5-4-2, 1-1-1 SCAC) from the left side of the box, setting Wyatt up for an easy two-touch score.
Gortney collected her fourth assist of the campaign.
Not even three minutes later -- in the 50th minute -- the Kemball-Cook connection struck once more.
Chanel Kemball-Cook pitched a perfect ball up for
Sierra Kemball-Cook, who made the most of her one-on-one chance to score the eventual game-winner and her second goal in as many matches.Â
Sierra inks her fifth goal of the season, while Chanel dished out her fourth assist.
Ozarks, however, did not go down without a fight.Â
After a saved penalty by Micaella Garcia, the Eagles made good on the ensuing possession. Alessandra Aguilar crossed the ball from the right wing, allowing an easy tap-in for Jordan Vazquez (66') to cut the lead to 2-1.
The YellowJackets staved off the late comeback attempt, securing their third straight unbeaten result in conference play.
