IRVING, Texas -- Backed by a season-best hitting percentage and two players with double-digit kills, the LeTourneau volleyball team picked up an SCAC sweep over Dallas, 3-0 (25-18, 25-20, 25-15), on Friday evening inside the Maher Center.
Logan Lear had a season-high 11 kills with a .300 hitting percentage while
Elizabeth Corbitt notched 10 kills as the YellowJackets hit a season-high .267 with 42 kills in the victory.
LeTourneau (5-9, 2-1 SCAC) picked up its first true road win of the year and its seventh straight over Dallas in the all-time series.
Emily Mullin added eight kills, 13 assists, and seven digs for LeTourneau and
Nora Lockhart finished with six kills (.429 hitting percentage) and one block.
Hailee Perry totaled 22 assists and nine digs, while
Rebekah Dragoo had 20 digs.
Elyse McKinney (13 digs) and
Maddy Hirneise (10 digs) each tallied double-digit digs.
LeTourneau hit .387 with 14 kills and only two errors in a 25-18 set-one victory. The YellowJackets trailed 5-2 early, but scored seven of the next nine points -- capped by an ace from
Ashlyn Walther -- to go ahead 9-7. LeTourneau did not trail again in the frame and used kills from Lear and Lockhart in the final three points to take a seven-point win in the game.
In the second set, LeTourneau trailed 15-12 before going on an 8-2 run to flip the script and gain control. Corbitt had back-to-back kills to get the rally started before a combination block from Walther and Mullin tied the score at 15-15. Walther tacked on a kill in the following rally to give LeTourneau a 16-15 lead.
Up 22-20, LeTourneau won the final three points, including a dump set from Mullin that turned into a kill to seal the win.
LeTourneau got out to a 16-7 lead in the third and cruised to the sweep. The YellowJackets tallied 16 kills in the set -- including consecutive kills from Lockhart to complete the victory.
Walther led LeTourneau with three blocks to go along with her three kills.
Kassidy Meyer contributed four kills and two blocks. LeTourneau had a 42-33 advantage in kills and 65-52 in digs.
Ellie Karasek and Skylar Applewhite had eight kills each for Dallas (3-8, 0-3 SCAC). The host Crusaders hit just .076 as a team.
