LONGVIEW, Texas -- LeTourneau women's soccer had no answers for the St. Thomas Celts on Friday night, falling 4-0 at the Joyce Family Athletic Village.
St. Thomas jumps LeTourneau in the SCAC standings, moving to second place with a record of 6-6-2 (4-1 SCAC). LeTourneau falls to 9-3-1 (3-2-1 SCAC) with just a pair of matches remaining.Â
It was all Celt from start to finish, outshooting the YellowJackets 23-6 on the night.
Three of LeTourneau's shots were on frame, coming from
Chanel Kemball-Cook,
Sarah Wyatt, and
Natalie Alvarado.
It took just five minutes for St. Thomas to strike, as Ashlee Stolje wrangled a loose ball at the top of the box and sent it flying in by the right post.
Nicole Cruzco pushed the lead to 2-0 (12') when she pitched a ball from the corner of the box just over a leaping
Kinsey Fulks.
The final goal of the first half came from Valeria Lara in the 43rd minute. After receiving a pass from Sydney Ferguson, Lara launched an unsavable shot across the box to put the Celts ahead 3-0.
Ferguson then put the match away in the second half, scoring in the 63rd minute to secure the win.
Fulks collected seven saves in the contest, while St. Thomas' Kylie Soich earned the shutout with three saves.
