LONGVIEW, Texas -- The LeTourneau men's soccer team refuses to lose at home.
LeTourneau had a dominant performance at home, both offensively and defensively, to win 3-0 over Centenary and clinch a spot in the SCAC tournament on Sunday afternoon at the Joyce Family Athletic Village.
The YellowJackets started the game fast and kept up the pressure for 90 minutes to win their seventh straight at home and remain unbeaten at the Joyce Family Athletic Village in 2026.
In the 26th minute, Edson Camara Martinez boomed a punt all the way to the Centenary (3-10, 0-7 SCAC) box, where Colton Chalker controlled the ball and then crossed back to Leandro Ferreira, who netted his sixth goal of the season with his right foot to give LeTourneau a 1-0 lead. Chalker was credited with his fifth assist of his freshman season.
LeTourneau (9-6-1, 5-2-1 SCAC) maintained constant pressure in the first half with 13 shots in the period and took a 1-0 lead into the locker room.
Early in the second half, Ferreira found a loose ball in the box, dribbled past two Centenary defenders, and fired a left-footed shot into the bottom right corner to give the YellowJackets a 2-0 lead. Ferreira's second goal of the game secured his second brace at home this season.
LeTourneau added on an insurance goal in the 83rd minute when Marcos Gonzalez headed in his own rebound off of Centenary keeper Andres Osorio to score his second goal of the week and give the YellowJackets a 3-0 lead.
Ferreira leads LeTourneau with seven goals this season and now has a total of 18 points.
Camara Martinez played all 90 minutes for LeTourneau and earned his 10th career shutout with one save in the match. Osorio played the full 90 minutes for Centenary and gathered seven saves.
