Career-Highs from Lockhart and Perry Lead Volleyball to Road Victory

SHERMAN, Texas – The LeTourneau volleyball team closed its regular season on a high note, defeating Centenary College 3-1 (25-19, 25-15, 22-25, 25-15).

LeTourneau was led offensively by Nora Lockhart, who recorded a career-high 14 kills, with a .500 hitting percentage. Kylee Marksberry and Elizabeth Corbitt also had explosive outputs, putting up 13 kills each, while Claire Bezanilla added 10. The match marked the first time this season that the YellowJackets have had four players with double-digit kills.

Hailee Perry added the best statistical game of her career, dishing out a career-high 31 assists. Emily Mullin added 19 assists for her afternoon.

Rebekah Dragoo led the way defensively, garnering 29 digs, while Maddy Hirneise recorded 14 and Elyse McKinney had 11. Ashlyn Walther made her presence felt at the net, with seven blocks, in addition to her five kills.

The first-set remained close for a while, with the teams knotted at 15 midway through. LeTourneau (11-14, 7-6 SCAC) closed out the set, winning 10 of the last 14 points, to pull away for a 25-19 first-set win.

The Jackets dominated the second-set in the early goings, jumping out to a quick 12-6 lead. Centenary (1-19, 0-13 SCAC7 would cut the lead to three, but LeTourneau would eventually pull away for good, taking the second-set 25-15.

LeTourneau seemed to have the match in hand after a block from Corbitt and Walther put them up 18-11. However, Centenary responded with a furious comeback, as it scored eight unanswered to rally for a 25-22 third-set victory.

The fourth-set was a different story as the YellowJackets stymied Centenary's momentum, jumping out to an 8-1 lead. LeTourneau stayed in control for the remainder of the set, finishing it 25-15.

Sydney Pena led the way for Centenary, collecting 11 kills and 14 digs.

With the win, LeTourneau will finish with a winning record in conference play for the second consecutive season.
