IRVING, Texas -- The No. 23-ranked LeTourneau men's golf team opened the spring season by placing in a tie for third overall at the Crusader Cup, hosted by Dallas at the Hackberry Creek Country Club.
The YellowJackets shot a 641 (311-330) in the 36-hole tournament, finishing three shots behind SCAC foe McMurry (638, 317-321) which won the event. Southern Nazarene's Dawson Dunlap was the medalist at 2-over, 146 (69-77).
Monday's round featured chilly temperatures, while Tuesday saw blustery winds at the par-72 Hackberry course.
Owen Prewitt led the way with a 10-over, 154 (72-82). He opened the tournament with an even-par, 72 on Monday as he recorded five birdies. On Tuesday, Prewitt had one birdie and finished with an 82. His six birdies led all LeTourneau golfers in the tournament.
Kaiden Schneider placed 14th overall with a 160 (79-81). The senior had three birdies in the tournament -- two of which came on Monday.
Trey Cates finished tied for 16th at 162 (79-83) and posted an eagle on the par-5, fifth hole on Monday.
Noah Summers came in with a 167 (81-86) and
Rafa Torres finished with a 168 (84-84) to round out the LeTourneau golfers.
