SEGUIN, Texas -- The LeTourneau softball team dropped a pair of games at No. 8-ranked Texas Lutheran to open the three-game SCAC series on Friday in Seguin.
Texas Lutheran (9-1, 7-1 SCAC) took both games by 7-0 scores. LeTourneau (3-7, 3-5 SCAC) and TLU conclude the series on Saturday.
In game one,
Rylie Shipp had two of LeTourneau's five hits in the loss while
Jenna Carter,
Kylee Davis, and
Brooke Bubert each had one.
Texas Lutheran scored single runs in the first and second innings before breaking open the game with a three-run fifth inning. Riley Davila had the big hit in the fifth with her two-run triple.
Bubert (1-3) got the loss in the circle as she went all six innings and struck out two.
Katelyn Howard (7-0) earned the win for Texas Lutheran. Caelee Clark and Chesley Swisher had two hits each and each stole two bases.
In game two, Texas Lutheran got out to a 2-0 lead in the first and threw another shutout.Â
Shipp went 2-for-2 with a walk while Davis and Carter had one hit each in the loss.
Bree Brege (1-2) picked up the loss after tossing six innings.
Jordyn Joy (1-0) threw a shutout and collected 10 strikeouts. Taylor Vannett went 3-for-4 with two RBIs to lead the 11-hit attack for Texas Lutheran.
