Women's Tennis Notches Two Wins

SHERMAN, Texas/IRVING, Texas -- The LeTourneau women's tennis team picked up its first two wins, and first two SCAC victories, over Austin College and Dallas over the weekend.

LeTourneau (2-1, 2-0 SCAC) defeated Austin, 6-1, on Friday before taking down Dallas, 7-0, on Saturday afternoon.

In Friday's win, LeTourneau took two of the three doubles matches to earn the point and then five of the six in singles play.

Chloe Tesser and Kylie Weeks held down the top flight in doubles with their 6-3 win over Olivia Sanchez and Emma Davidson while Maddie Nichol and Anaiah Smith were also 6-3 winners over Lauren Hofeldt and Ashlyn Alexander at the No. 2 flight. 

Weeks played at the top flight and won 6-1, 6-0 over Sanchez, while Nichol was a 6-0, 6-1 winner over Elizabeth Mojica at No. 2. Tesser took a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Hofeldt at the No. 3 spot and Smith earned a 6-0, 6-4 victory over Davidson 6-0, 6-4.

Lindley Vickers collected a win at the No. 6 spot in three sets over Lauren Walker 6-3, 1-6, 10-8.

On Saturday, LeTourneau had little issues with Dallas in a 7-0 victory.

Tesser and Weeks breezed past Bridget Sullivan and Avery Williams at the top spot in doubles, 6-1. Nichol and Smith won 6-3 again, this time over Colette Asan and Kathleen Roset at the No. 2 flight. Vickers and Emmy Phillips blanked Evelyn Powell and Cecilia Webb, 6-0, at the No. 3 position.

Weeks picked up her second singles win of the week with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Williams at the top flight. Nichol outlasted Sullivan at the No. 2 flight in a second-set tiebreak 6-4, 7-6(5). Tesser won over Roset, 6-1, 6-0, at the No. 3 flight and Smith was a 6-4, 6-0 winner at No. 4 over Asan.

Phillips took a 6-0, 6-0 win over Powell at No. 5 and Vickers won for a second time with a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Webb at No. 6.

UP NEXT

LeTourneau heads to Hilton Head for Spring Break matches. The YellowJackets will face Gordon on March 7.
