Men's Tennis Suffers Setback to Greenville

HILTON HEAD, S.C. -- A tight match throughout, the LeTourneau men's tennis team came up just short in a 4-3 loss to Greenville on Tuesday in Hilton Head.

LeTourneau (5-2) finished its Spring Break trip to South Carolina with a 2-2 record.

Tuesday featured two evenly-matched teams, but it was Greenville (7-4) that held on for the win.

LeTourneau took the doubles point with wins at the top two flights. Andrew Reiman and Fernando Vazquez held down the top spot with a 6-3 victory over Greenville's Jade Dynamic and Francisco Trujillo. Timothy Black and Zach Farris were also 6-3 winners as the No. 2 tandem defeated Jean Sanabria and Colton Hume.

Both tandems of Reiman/Vazquez and Black/Farris moved to 6-1 on the year with their victories.

Farris outlasted Sanabria at the top flight in singles as he rallied from a first-set loss to win in a tiebreak 2-6, 6-3, 10-3. Reiman had a similar match at the No. 2 flight, but he was defeated by Colton Hulme in three sets 5-7, 6-3, 10-6. The loss was just the first for Reiman in singles play during the spring.

LeTourneau's third point of the match came at the No. 6 spot as Diego Maldonado took a win by retirement over Kai Gustafson after taking the first set, 6-3, and holding a 1-0 lead in the second.

Greenville finished the win with victories at lines 3-5. Dynamic narrowly won the first set over Vazquez and took the match 7-5, 6-0.
