LONGVIEW, Texas -- Led by top-five finishes from
Kinley Pessel and
Hannah Newell, the LeTourneau women's golf team finished third overall at the FST Crossing Creeks Invitational, which concluded on Tuesday.
LeTourneau shot a 60-over, 628 (321-307) for the tournament. Cal Lutheran won the team title with a 51-over, 619 (303-316). Cal Lutheran's Caroline Morris and Anna Poulin tied for medalist honors at 11-over, 153.
Pessel placed in a tie for third in the tournament with a 13-over, 155 (82-73). She bounced back from a first-round 82 on Monday to shoot a 2-over, 73 on Tuesday with three birdies. Pessel had seven birdies as she secured her fourth top-five finish of the year.
Newell, one of the top players in program history and playing in her final home tournament in Longview, finished in a tie for fifth at 14-over, 156 (82-74). Newell also shot an 82 on Monday, but followed that with a 3-over, 74 on Tuesday with five birdies for the tournament. It was her second top-five finish of the season.
Elena Jurado came tied for 10th at 19-over, 161 (82-79), her second career top-10 finish. She tied her personal-best round with an 8-over, 79 on Tuesday.
Emerson Swanner was 12th at 162 (77-85) after leading the way for LeTourneau with a first-round 77 on Monday. Swanner posted four birdies in the tournament.
Calli Hoesterey was 13th at 165 (80-83), while
Halle Carr (169, 88-81) and
Lexie Cannon (169, 84-85) posted top-20 finishes. Cannon tallied three birdies in the tournament and Hoesterey had one.
Avery Streetman (189, 96-93) and
Reagan Chastain (193, 99-94) also competed.
