Women's Tennis Rolls to Program-Best Start

CLARKSVILLE, Ark. -- Fueled by wins up and down the lineup, the LeTourneau women's tennis team coasted past Ozarks, 7-0, in SCAC action on Thursday at the Alexander-Boreham Tennis Center.

The win for LeTourneau (6-2, 3-0 SCAC) moves the YellowJackets to 6-2 overall, marking the best eight-match start to a season in program history. It is also just the second time LeTourneau has opened a season 3-0 in conference play.

The YellowJackets dropped just four points in a doubles sweep to go ahead 1-0 in the match. Chloe Tesser and Kylie Weeks downed Ozarks' Brooke Humphrey and Kelsey Smith by a 6-1 final at the top spot, while Maddie Nichol and Anaiah Smith won by the same score over Madison Hamilton and Gabriella Davis at No. 2.

The tandems of Tesser/Weeks and Nichol/Smith each moved to 6-1 in dual matches on the year.

Emmy Phillips and Lindley Vickers completed the doubles sweep with a 6-2 win over Jayden Vazquez and Emerson Corbin at No. 3.

LeTourneau then faced little resistance in the singles portion.

Weeks earned a 6-3, 6-0 win over Kelsey Smith at the top flight and Nichol was a 6-3, 6-1 winner at No. 2 over Humphrey. The win for Weeks was her 10th overall in singles play, and she moved to 6-1 in dual matches -- all at the top flight.

Tesser blanked Hamilton 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 3 flight for her 11th overall singles win of the season and moved her to 6-2 in duals. Smith also moved to 6-2 in duals after her 6-1, 6-2 win over Vazquez at the No. 4 flight.

Phillips collected a 6-0, 6-0 win over Corbin at the No. 5 spot and Vickers was a 6-1, 6-1 winner over Yamileth Lopez at No. 6.

The win was LeTourneau's third shutout of the year.
