LONGVIEW, Texas -- The LeTourneau women's tennis team continued its winning ways with a 6-1 victory over Texas Lutheran on Friday at the Davis Tennis Complex.
After playing its first nine matches on the road, LeTourneau (7-3, 4-1 SCAC) opened the home slate with the win. It was the third straight win for LeTourneau over Texas Lutheran (5-4, 2-3 SCAC).
LeTourneau took the doubles point by winning two of the three matches.
Kylie Weeks and
Chloe Tesser continued to dominate at the top line with a 6-0 win over Texas Lutheran's Lucero Alvarado and Adison Ortega. The win moved the LeTourneau duo to 8-1 on the year,
LeTourneau clinched the doubles point as
Emmy Phillips and
Lindley Vickers downed Texas Lutheran's Isabella Barber and Cassandra Benavides, 6-2 at No. 3. In the other doubles flight, Texas Lutheran's Isabella Hill and Farah Standley defeated
Maddie Nichol and
Anaiah Smith in a tiebreak, 7-6(2).
The YellowJackets took five of the flights in singles play.Â
Weeks was a 6-1, 6-1 winner over Alvarado at the No. 1 spot and Nichol earned a 6-1, 6-2 win over Standley at No. 2. Weeks moved to 8-1 on the year in dual matches, while it was the sixth win for Nichol.
Tesser, Smith, and Phillips all notched wins in singles play. Tesser took down Barber 6-2, 6-3 at the No. 3 flight. Smith was victorious over Hill at No. 4, 6-1, 6-3, and Phillips picked up a 6-2, 6-3 win over Ortega at No. 5.
Texas Lutheran's lone point came from Benavides at No. 6 in three sets over Vickers 2-6, 6-2, 11-9.
