LONGVIEW, Texas -- Facing one of the top teams in the SCAC, the LeTourneau men's tennis team battled on Saturday morning before falling to Concordia Texas, 5-2, at the Davis Tennis Complex.
The loss dropped LeTourneau to 6-5 overall and 3-3 in SCAC action. Concordia moved to 5-7 overall and 5-1 in league play.
Both of LeTourneau's points came in singles play.
Diego Maldonado picked up a 6-4, 6-4 win over Concordia's Rowan Daniell at the No. 5 flight. At No. 6, it was
Hayden Harry defeating Jack Rectenwald by a 6-4, 6-4 final.
Concordia took a 1-0 match lead with wins at two of the three doubles spots.
Zach Farris and
Timothy Black took down Aaron Griffin and Kade Talbot, 6-3, at the No. 2 flight, but the visiting Tornados took victories at No. 1 and No. 3 to win doubles.
Andrew Reiman moved to the No. 1 flight in singles and took Concordia's Steven Scholz to three sets before falling in a tiebreak 2-6, 6-1, 7-6(7). Farris challenged Daniel Beckles at No. 2, but fell by a 6-2, 7-5 final.
Fernando Vazquez also had a three-set match, which included a tiebreaker, but he narrowly fell to Griffin 7-6(6), 4-6, 6-1 at the No. 3 flight. Concordia's Kade Talbot bested Black at No. 4, 7-5, 6-1.
