FRANKSTON, Texas -- A second team title in as many weeks for the LeTourneau men's golf team as the YellowJackets captured the Goliath Compression Invitational and
Kaiden Schneider earned medalist as the tournament concluded on Tuesday at the par-72 Pine Dunes Resort and Golf Club.
LeTourneau won a team title for the second straight week after claiming the Linda Lowery Invitational last week. The YellowJackets shot 4-under, 860 for the tournament following rounds of 284 (4-under), 288 (even-par), and 288 (even-par). LeTourneau finished 35 strokes ahead of second place Jacksonville College and Lyon.
It was the fourth tournament title for LeTourneau this season, tying a program record set in each of the last two seasons.
Schneider claimed his first medalist honors of the season with an outstanding tournament. The senior finished 4-under, 212 (68-68-76). Schneider had back-to-back rounds of 68 on Monday to move to 8-under entering Tuesday's final round. He had five birdies in his opening round on Monday and five more in the second as he ended the tournament with 11.
It was Schneider's fifth career individual title and his 20th career top-10 finish.
LeTourneau was all over the top five on the leaderboard with four players garnering distinction.
Owen Prewitt was second in the field with a 2-over, 218 (72-74-72). Prewitt had two birdies and an eagle in his first round on Monday then added four birdies in his second round before tallying three on Tuesday.
Trey Cates finished strong on Tuesday to place in a tie for third at 3-over, 219 (75-74-70). Cates ended the tournament with a 2-under, 70 with four birdies and one eagle. He had seven birdies in the first round, including six on the back nine, and finished the tournament with 14.
Noah Summers also tied for third with a 3-over, 219 (69-78-72). Summers opened the tournament with a 3-under, 69 which included three birdies and an eagle. He finished the tournament with seven birdies and three eagles.
Rafa Torres was tied for 11th at 7-over, 223 (78-74-71) with a 1-under, 71 in the final round. Playing as an individual, he had nine birdies in the tournament.
Brody Holmlund came in at 10-over, 226 (78-74-74) with six birdies and one eagle to finish in a tie for 17th.Â
