LONGVIEW, Texas -- Backed by a career night from
Clayton Holt on the bump, LeTourneau baseball only needed
Blake Vice's three-run homer to defeat the Dallas Crusaders 3-1 on Friday night at Conrad-Vernon Field.
Holt (4-1) was pristine on the mound, scattering five hits and a pair of walks over 7.2 innings with a career-high 10 strikeouts.
Holt becomes the first LeTourneau (15-17, 12-10 SCAC) pitcher since 2023 to record double-digit strikeouts in a single game (March 25 vs Howard Payne).
The magic on the mound didn't stop there, as
Camden Miller was called from the pen with a runner on third and the tying run at the plate in the eighth.
Miller proceeded to shove a flawless save (2), striking out all four batters he faced to shut the door on the Crusaders (9-22, 7-15 SCAC).
Vice roped a three-run bomb to left center in the second inning to provide the only runs of the game for the Jackets, propelling them to victory.
Vice,
Austin Wiederhold,
Seth Hudson, and
Cody Brady all had two hits apiece in the win.
Reed Morales supplied Dallas' lone run of the ballgame with a sacrifice fly to right field in the seventh.
Liam Mosley (2-6) gave up Vice's homer, earning the losing decision in his 5.2 inning start.
Caleb Mize went 3-for-4 at the plate for Dallas, producing the majority of the Crusaders' hits.
