WESTWORTH VILLAGE, Texas -- The No. 14-ranked LeTourneau men's golf team opened the SCAC Tournament with a 4-over, 292 to sit in a tie for first after the first round at the par-72 Hawks Creek Golf Club.

LeTourneau led for most of the first round, but settled for a 4-over, 292 and a share atop the leaderboard with Texas Lutheran. McMurry (294, +6) and Dallas (294, +6) are within two shots.

Brody Holmlund paced the YellowJackets with his 1-under, 71 in the round to sit in fifth. Holmlund tied his best round of the season with the 71, which included three birdies. Two of those birdies came on the front nine as he was 1-under through the first half of the round.

Holmlund trails tri-leaders in McMurry's Eli Brinton, Dallas' Iain Griggs, and Hendrix's Oliver Naumann as the trio all went 3-under, 69.

Owen Prewitt is tied for sixth after his even-par, 72 on Sunday. Prewitt had six birdies in the round, to tie for the most in the field including four over the final nine holes of the day.

Rafa Torres is also inside the top-10 after round one as he is tied for ninth after carding a 1-over, 73. Torres had two birdies in the round. Kaiden Schneider (4-over, 76) and Trey Cates (5-over, 77) are tied for 24th and tied for 29th, respectively. Schneider birdied his first two holes of the day, while Cates had four birdies in his round.

LeTourneau led the field in par-4 scoring at 3.98 for the day, while tied atop the field in team birdies with 17.
