Men's Golf Holds Lead With Under-Par Round Two of SCAC Championships

WESTWORTH VILLAGE, Texas -- The No. 14-ranked LeTourneau men's golf team holds sole possession of first place after the team carded a 3-under, 285 in round two of the SCAC Championships at the par-72 Hawks Creek Golf Club.

After entering the day tied for first, LeTourneau moved to 1-over for the tournament and holds a three-shot lead over Dallas, who produced a 2-under, 276 in round two.

Kaiden Schneider found his stride in round two, shooting a 4-under, 68. Surging toward 20 spots in the individual standings, Schneider now sits tied for fourth and is even-par on the tournament. Schneider carded five birdies, only one bogey, and shot a flawless first nine -- after starting on hole 10 -- shooting a 3-under, 33.

Schneider also leads the field in par-4 scoring, shooting four-under on par-4's and averages 3.80 strokes per.

Owen Prewitt proved to be consistent, carding his second even-par, 72 of the tournament. Prewitt notched five birdies -- leading the field with 11 on the tournament -- and sits tied for fourth at even-par.

Alongside Schneider and Prewitt is Brody Holmlund, who also sits tied for fourth and even-par after day two. Holmlund cupped five birdies en route to a 1-over, 73 in round two.

The tied-for-fourth trio trails Hendrix's Oliver Naumann by three strokes, who sits atop the leaderboard at 3-under after carding an even-par, 72 today.

Trey Cates bounced back for an even-par, 72 on day two, including a 1-under, 35 final nine to round out the day. Cates totaled three birdies on the round and sits 19th in the individual standings at 5-over.

Rafa Torres -- despite being round two's drop score -- carded a 1-over, 73 to round out LeTourneau. Torres sits 10th in the standings -- at 2-over -- after his day two round that included four birdies.

The YellowJackets lead the field by a wide margin on par-4 scoring at a 3.98 average, shooting 2-under on such holes. LeTourneau's 39 birdies also sit atop the field.
