LONGVIEW, Texas -- LeTourneau softball dropped both games of the Friday doubleheader against No. 13 St. Thomas at the Joyce Family Athletic Village.
LeTourneau (11-20, 6-15 SCAC)Â was held to just one run in the 6-1 series opener before the Celts' (24-5, 22-2 SCAC) offense rolled for a 13-2 finale.
In game one, St. Thomas opened with a three-run top of the first, but LeTourneau chipped away with
Jenna Carter's RBI double in the home-half to make it 3-1.
Chloe Bennett scored on a wild pitch, followed by Viviana Vargas singling home a run to extend the lead to 5-1 in the third.
Laynie Davis (3-4) received the loss in her complete game, but was able to hold the Celts to just one run across the final four innings.
Game two saw St. Thomas pour in 11 runs across the final four innings, with a final score of 13-2.
Raina Doggett and
Laila LaCapra had two hits apiece in the finale.
Bennett reached base six times on the day to lead the Celts, while Vargas went 4-for-9 at the plate with four RBIs and three runs scored.
Allison Hughes (8-1) and Victoria Sossaman (14-4) both threw complete game wins for the Celts.

LeTourneau will hit the road, facing Dallas for an SCAC series next weekend (April 10-11).
