SUWANEE, Ga. -- Eight LeTourneau student-athletes were named to SCAC Spring All-Sportsmanship teams, announced the conference recently.
LeTourneau honorees included
Zach Baker (baseball),
Kaiden Schneider (men's golf),
Emerson Swanner (women's golf),
Jenna Carter (softball),
Timothy Black (men's tennis),
Anaiah Smith (women's tennis),
Seth Barker (men's track & field), and
Alayna Galloway (women's track & field).
Since the inaugural All-Sportsmanship teams were honored in the fall of 2008, the SCAC has recognized student-athletes who each, in his or her own way, has displayed the league's core belief in the value of honorable conduct. For this year's selections, each conference head coach was asked to elect one member from his or her team who displayed good sportsmanship throughout the season.
Baker, a senior from Memphis, Tenn., was an All-SCAC honorable mention selection this year. He led the team with 20 stolen bases and scored 37 runs with 23 RBIs to help LeTourneau reach the SCAC Tournament championship round.
Schneider, a senior from Bullard, Texas, became a four-time all-conference honoree after claiming All-SCAC honorable mention. The senior finished second on the team with a 73.46 scoring average across 31.5 rounds and helped the YellowJackets to a SCAC championship and the program's fourth straight trip to the NCAA Division III Championships.
Swanner, a sophomore from Spring, Texas, earned All-SCAC first team after placing in a tie for second at the SCAC Tournament. The sophomore also helped LeTourneau win the SCAC title on the women's side and the program made its first team appearance at the NCAA Division III Championships. Swanner was second on the team with an 80.65 scoring average and four top-10 finishes.
Carter, a senior from Keller, Texas, collected All-SCAC second team honors. She batted .403 with 35 RBIs and three homers on the year. Carter totaled 50 hits for the season and ranked sixth in the conference in RBIs.
Black, a junior from Lindale, Texas, was part of an All-SCAC doubles second team honor with teammate
Zach Farris. Black totaled seven singles wins on the year and went 13-4 in doubles with Farris as LeTourneau advanced to the SCAC Tournament.
Smith, a freshman from Humble, Texas, picked up 13 total singles wins on the year and had 10 on the doubles side. She and
Maddie Nichol went 8-7 in doubles play, while Smith posted a 10-5 singles record in dual matches.
Barker, a senior from Cayuga, Texas, competed in eight meets across indoor and outdoor seasons. He ran a personal best 23.83 at the SCAC Championships in the 200-meter and a season-best 100-meter also came with a time of 11.53.
Galloway, a senior from Montgomery, Texas, also collected SCAC All-Sportsmanship for women's cross country. She competed in 12 meets on the year and earned USTFCCCA Indoor All-West Region honors as part of the DMR team.
