LONGVIEW, Texas -- The LeTourneau women's soccer team secured its first victory of 2026 thanks to a ludicrous second-half start over the Wiley Wildcats on Saturday night at the Joyce Family Athletic Village.
The YellowJackets (1-1) downed Wiley 3-2 off the backs of two goals within the first 50 seconds of the second half and held off a late comeback attempt.
Chanel Kemball-Cook secured the opening goal of the match, putting LeTourneau up 1-0 in the 10th minute. The senior notched her first goal of the season with a chipping in a feed from
Sarah Wyatt from 25 yards out, sneaking by the left side of the woodwork.
Wiley (2-3) tied the score at 1-1 in the 32nd minute when Mariah Williams worked her way through traffic and plunged the ball into the back of the net from the top of the box.
With a 1-1 score at the half, LeTourneau needed to find a way to create more opportunities heading into the final 45.
They did.
Just 30 seconds into the second half,
Sierra Kemball-Cook fed a beautiful ball from midfield directly to
Natalie Alvarado, who made easy work of a 1-on-1 opportunity with Wiley's keeper, pushing LeTourneau to a 2-1 lead.
The Jackets weren't done yet, though, intercepting just the third pass of the Wildcat's ensuing possession.
Wyatt once again felt the urge to dish out a dime, finding
Sierra Kemball-Cook sprinting into the box and setting up the freshman for her first career goal (46').
With LeTourneau leading 3-1, Wiley's Deyanara Hernandez beat
Kinsey Fulks to a 50/50 ball in the 69th minute to cut the lead to one. Sabrina Avril assisted on the late comeback effort.
The YellowJackets managed to burn the remainder of the clock, earning their first win of the 2026 campaign.
It was the first goal of the season for both the Kemball-Cook sisters and Alvarado, while Wyatt notched her first and second assists of the year.
Fulks collected nine saved the contest, while
Avery Gortney and
Presley McIrvin played all 90 minutes on the back line.
