Chris Grotemat

Chris Grotemat completed his second year as an assistant coach with the LeTourneau men's basketball program in 2024-25.

Grotemat was a member of the men’s basketball team at LeTourneau from 2000-03, was twice named to the ASC Academic All-Conference team, and was a co-captain of the 2002-03 YellowJacket team. After earning his B.A. in social studies education, Grotemat began his teaching and coaching career at Gilmer High School. He returned to LeTourneau for the 2004-05 season to serve as assistant men’s basketball coach for then-head coach Bernie Balikian. Grotemat then returned to the high school ranks, where he served 16 years as a varsity basketball coach, including the last six years at Lindale High School. Grotemat’s teams combined to make 13 postseason appearances and amassed nearly 300 wins. In addition to his role as the volunteer assistant coach, Grotemat now serves as the head of the upper and middle school at the Trinity School of Texas in Longview. He and his wife, Tisha, have three adult children -- Hunter, Will, and Emma -- and are the proud grandparents of their granddaughter, Harper.
