Collin Cone

Collin Cone was hired as LeTourneau University men's soccer coach on Feb. 27, 2018.

Cone guided the YellowJackets to their first winning season since 2010 in the 2020-21 season after LETU capped off a 6-5 record. LeTourneau beat Concordia Texas for the first time in Cone's tenure. The Jackets also knocked off Ozarks in the final regular season game to assure the winning record. Ozarks went on to win the ASC championship. He also knocked off Centenary 2-0 earlier in the season who went on to win the SCAC championship. His players received seven All-American Southwest Conference honors. Every year that Cone has overseen the YellowJackets there has been progress.

In his second season with the YellowJackets, Cone's team won more game than his first season. The Jackets went 7-10-2 overall, 5-6 in the ASC. The YellowJackets qualified for the ASC Championship Tournament. His team knocked off No. 7 Hardin-Simmons, 3-1, in the regular season. The YellowJackets earned six All-ASC honors.

Cone’s first year at LeTourneau saw improvement as his team had the most single season wins since 2011, going 6-9-2 overall, 5-4-1 in the ASC. The YellowJackets doubled the number of wins from the previous season, defeated Hardin-Simmons for the second time in school history, had the most ASC wins since 2011, made the ASC Championship postseason tournament for the first time since 2011, and finished in the top six of the league.

Prior to joining the YellowJackets family, Cone spent three years at Grace College in Winona Lake, Indiana. He played a key role in the recruiting efforts for the Lancers while also working with the goalkeepers. In his final season at Grace, the Lancers won the Crossroads League Championship for the first time in 25 years and made it to the NAIA National Championship for the first time in 35 seasons. Cone's time at Grace as a coach was marked by two NCCAA National Tournaments and two regional tournament titles.

In addition to coaching at Grace College, Cone also spent three years as a student-athlete for the Lancers as a three-year starter. As a senior, Cone posted seven shutouts in the regular season to propel the Lancers to a third place finish in the Crossroads League, and was named to the all-conference team.

During his junior year, Cone was honored nationally as the NAIA Defensive Player of the Week after shutting out Indiana Wesleyan despite the Lancers playing a man down.

Cone's time as a student-athlete at Grace College included two straight trips to the National Christian College Athletic Association National Tournament, which marked the first time that Grace College made back-to-back appearances since the 1982-83 seasons. Cone registered a 23-16-7 mark in goal for the Lancers, making 203 saves and posting 15 shutouts.

In October of 2021, Cone was selected to the United Soccer Coaches/NSCAA “30 under 30” program, a group comprised of the 30 best soccer coaches under 30 years old in the United States.

Cone holds a master’s degree in physical education with a specialization in coaching from Ball State University. He also holds a United States Soccer Federation D License for coaching, as well as the Premier Diploma (Distinguished Pass), Advanced National Diploma, Director of Coaching Diploma, Goalkeeping 1, 2 and 3 Diploma, Foundations of Coaching Diploma and Futsal Level 1 Diploma from the United Soccer Coaches, formerly known as the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.

He was born and raised in Central Africa to missionary parents who served overseas. He attended Rainforest International School in Yaoundé, Cameroon, where he graduated in 2009.

Cone resides in Longview with his wife, Anna.
