Freshman Nearly Has Fifth Double Double in Loss to Concordia

LeTourneau University freshman Dolores Kroese nearly had her fifth double double of the season with nine kills and 15 digs in a 25-19, 25-17, 25-16 loss to Concordia (Texas) in the ASC Inter-pod Tournament hosted by East Texas Baptist in Marshall.

The loss drops the YellowJackets to 5-14 overall and 0-7 in the American Southwest Conference; meanwhile, the Tornados with the win improve to 6-10 overall and 3-5 in the ASC.

Concordia hit at a .254 clip compared to .084 for LETU in the win. The YellowJackets had a strong presence at the net with six blocks. However, the victors had a balanced offensive attack with Emma Clifford, who had a match-high nine kills to lead the Tornados; plus Sam Ladewig had 34 assists.

In addition to the effort by Kroese, Kayla Ronda had six digs and six for LeTourneau; plus Shannon Syme and Alli Bordelon had 11 and 10 digs, respectively.

Kroese started the match with two kills and four digs as the YellowJackets were outhit .268 to .206 by the Tornados. Plus, the rookie from Twin Falls, Idaho had a block solo and a block assist. She followed that up with a three kill and six-dig effort in the second set and followed that up with four more kills and five digs in the final set.

LETU will resume its participation at the ASC Inter-pod Tournament on Saturday when they face Mary Hardin-Baylor at noon, followed by a matchup against Sul Ross State at 2 p.m.
