LeTourneau Volleyball Splits on Final Day of the Season

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The LeTourneau University volleyball team splits its final two matches of the 2013 season, defeating Rust College, 25-14, 25-15, 25-17 and losing to the Unviersity of Dallas 20-25, 18-25, 16-25. The YellowJackets close out the 2013 campaign with an 8-26 mark.
 
LeTourneau started the day with a straight-win over winless Rust College. Freshman Elyse Wright paced the attack with eight kills as LETU outhit the visiting Bearcats by a .105 to -.106. Head Coach Scott Peluso elected to utilize multiple lineup combinations in the win. Freshman Alyssa Eden had 16 assists and freshman Mackenzie Davies and junior Shannon Syme had 11 and 10 assists, respectively.
 
The YellowJackets also had 13 service aces in the win, just one shy of the season-high mark of 14 that they had against Mississippi College on Sept. 28. Wright had six to pace the YellowJackets, the most since a 10-ace effort by sophomore Kayla Ronda in the same contest against MC.

In the nightcap against the University of Dallas, the Crusaders had a balanced attack in the straight-set win. Cat Dowgwillo led the efforts with nine kills. In addition, the visitors had eight service aces in the win.
 
LeTourneau freshman Dolores Kroese closed out a strong freshman campaign with nearly a double double with nine kills and 10 digs. The Twin Falls, Idaho had a hand in five blocks including two block solos and three block assists. Wright continued her strong swing with seven kills. Sophomore Sarah Krippner (pictured to the left) had her 10th double double of the season with 22 assists and 11 digs in the defeat.
