Two goals scored by a pair of Longview natives led the LeTourneau University men's soccer team to a 2-1 win over East Texas Baptist on Thursday night at the Joyce Family Athletic Village.

The Tigers (1-3, 0-1 ASC) ended the scoreless contest in the 42nd minute when Christian Garcia emerged from a scramble in front of the goal.

The Yellow Jackets (2-6-1, 1-0 ASC) equalized early into the second half when senior Hunter Hembrough scored in the 53rd minute. Hembrough found the back of the net dribbling down the left side and beating the ETBU goalkeeper to the upper right of the goal.

Later in the 62nd minute, sophomore Mario Lopez also went up the left side to shoot the game-winning goal after receiving a pass from senior Edwin Raudales.

The Tigers attempted to equalize but the YellowJackets continued to maintain possession. Plus, Hembrough had a chance to add a second goal of the night that was saved by ETBU goalkeeper Cody Hopson.

Despite surrendering the first half goal, LeTourneau goalkeeper Patrick Barba III had a strong night between the posts. The sophomore from McKinney had six saves.

The next contest for LeTourneau is on Friday, Oct. 3 when they travel to Pineville, Louisiana to face Louisiana College at 7 p.m.
