Yellow Jackets Fall to University of Dallas, 3-1

The Yellow Jackets got on the scoreboard in the 79th minute with a header from junior midfielder Danny Canaviri.
Box Score The LeTourneau University men's soccer team dropped a 3-1 decision to host University of Dallas on Tuesday.

The Yellow Jackets (0-2-1) outshot the host Crusaders by a 17-15 margin; sophomore midfielder Mario Lopez paced the attack with four shots. Despite the shot advantage, it was two goals by UD forward Nathan Nwaze that proved to be the difference in the contest.

University of Dallas (2-0) went ahead in the seventh minute when Nwaze found the back of the net for his first goal. He followed that up with another in the 50th minute. The Crusaders added a third goal in the 76th minute when Barton Holdridge headed a shot in to the top left of the goal.

In the 79th minute, the Yellow Jackets got on the scoreboard with a header of its own from junior midfielder Danny Canaviri, following a pass from Lopez for the final margin. LTU sophomore goalkeeper Patrick Barba III had six saves in the defeat.

Next on the schedule for LeTourneau is an 11-day break and a pair of matches in Birmingham, Alabama on Sept. 14 vs. Birmingham Southern at 7:30 p.m. and on Sept. 15 vs. Sewanee at noon.
