No. 20 University of Mary-Hardin Baylor volleyball defeated LeTourneau, 25-15, 25-15, 25-18 on Friday evening in Longview.
 
The YellowJackets (6-12, 2-5 ASC) were led by sophomore Dolores Kroese, who had eight digs, seven kills and two blocks in the loss. Sophomore Elyse Wright added seven kills and two blocks for LeTourneau.
 
The Cru (15-3, 7-0 ASC) were led by sophomore Abby Voskuil, who had 11 kills and a .368 hitting percentage to UMHB. In the win, the visitors from Belton hit at a .289 clip. In addition, UMHB had strong play at the net with nine blocks with junior Cheyenne Dowdey registering two block solos and three block assists in the win.
 
A 7-0 spurt in the middle of the first set during the service game of Dowdey sparked the visitors to the first set victory. Senior Bianca Patterson accounted for five kills to lead UMHB.
 
During the second set, UMHB took control of the set with an 8-0 run. In the run, Voskuil had two of her four kills to lead a UMHB attack that out hit LETU, .520 to .074.
 
The two teams went back and forth in the third set with four ties including a 16-16 tie before a 5-0 run by UMHB put the visitors ahead for the rest of the set to close out the match for the victory.
 
LETU will continue its homestand on Saturday at noon with a conference matchup against Concordia at noon, followed by a 4 p.m. contest against Austin College. Earlier this year, AC defeated LeTourneau in 4 in Sherman on Sept. 5.
