Men's Soccer: LeTourneau Drops 1-0 Decision to Ozarks

A goal in the 46th minute by Bryce Young propelled host University of the Ozarks to a 1-0 win over the LeTourneau University men's soccer team on Saturday in Clarksville, Arkansas.

The YellowJackets (2-8, 0-2 ASC) had nine shots in the loss including four from sophomore Adam Schultz. LETU sophomore goalkeeper Miguel Cabrera had four saves.

The Eagles (4-4-2, 1-0-1 ASC) posted 10 shots with four-different players including Young with two to pace the Ozarks attack. Goalkeeper Austin Benner made four saves for the shutout.

"We didn't finish our chances early and it ended up costing us the game," said LeTourneau head coach Matthew Haesecke. One of the chances that Haesecke was referring to was a shot in the 39th minute by junior Danny Canaviri that hit the post.

After a scoreless first half, Young found the back of the net just 99 seconds into the second 45 minutes. Later in the half, in the closing minutes of the match, a shot by sophomore Hunter Swift was blocked in the 87th minute and a Schultz shot in the 89th minute was saved by Benner.

Next, LeTourneau will host Louisiana College on Friday, October 10 at 7 p.m. The two teams played on Sept. 27 with the Wildcats posting a 4-1 win.
