A 14-2 spurt midway through the second half pushed a seven-point lead to double digits for the rest of the contest as host University of Texas-Dallas defeated LeTourneau, 78-53 in women's basketball action on Saturday in Richardson.

Early in the second half, LeTourneau (3-10, 1-7 ASC) went on a 10-1 run as redshirt sophomore
Alexandra Burroughs knocked down an open jumper with 12:32 to play to cut the UTD lead to seven, 50-43. The YellowJackets spent most of the game at the free-throw line, making 22 of 30 free throws in the loss. LETU shot a season-high 21 free throws in the first half, making 15 attempts.

Ashley Reed (pictured)Â scored a team-high 10 points for her fourth-straight game in double digits for the YellowJackets. 11-different players contributed to the scoring ledger for LeTourneau.

The Comets (11-2, 7-1 ASC) were led by the double double from Amber Brown, who had 13 points and a UTD school record 11 assists. She was joined in double digits by Ashley Shaw, who had a game-high 15. UTD outscored LETU, 36-22 on points in the paint and 31-16 on points off turnovers.

The two teams were tied four times through the first five minutes of the game. Then, the host Comets went ahead for the rest of the contest when Christina Brosnahan hit a 3 pointer that put UTD ahead 11-8 with 14:36 to play in the first half.

LeTourneau will look to snap a nine-game losing streak when they host Howard Payne University on Thursday night at 5:30 p.m. in Solheim Arena. Â
