Danyel Bradley from Howard Payne scored 14 points in two overtime periods en route to a game-high 35 points to spoil a comeback effort by the LeTourneau University women's basketball team. Bradley and HPU rallied for a 103-99 double overtime victory over host LETU on Thursday night in Solheim Arena.

Ashley Reed, who hit three 3 pointers in the final 16 seconds of regulation. Reed hit the game-tying three pointer with a tenth of a second remaining to tie the contest at 75 and force overtime. The Cedar Hill native ended the night with a career-best 26 to lead six LETU players in double digits.
For LeTourneau, Stewart ended the night with a double double (13 points and 11 rebounds), sophomore
Bria Goodman scored a career-high 15 and off the bench – junior
Ashley Stephens had a double double (15 points, 11 rebounds), freshman
Julia Land and sophomore
Jada Roberts each had 11.
Howard Payne (8-5, 5-3 ASC) overcame a four-point halftime deficit and turned the tide with an 18-3 run to start the second half for a 54-42 lead with 13:24 to play. Eight of the 18 came from Sarah Van Remmen, who finished with a double double (14 points and 16 rebounds) for HPU. Remmen and Bradley were joined in double figures by Yessenia Cazares (26 points) and a double double by Kalin Hanna (10 points and 13 rebounds).
LeTourneau ended the first half on an 8-3 run for a 39-35 lead. At the break, LETU had outscored HPU, 20-12 in points in the paint and 19-13 on bench points. Roberts and Land accounted for 13 of the 20 points for LETU. For HPU, Bradley and Cazares had 14 and 11 points, respectively. The contest was tied five times and the lead exchanged hands five more times.
In the second half, Howard Payne built a 16-point lead, but that did not phase LeTourneau. HPU held an 11-point lead, 71-60 with 2:27 to play, LeTourneau scored 15 of the next 19 points in the contest to force overtime. During that stretch, Land and Reed each hit a 3 pointer and Stewart hit a pair for the home team and scored 10 of its 15 points off HPU turnovers.
In the first overtime, Howard Payne quickly built a pair of six-point leads until LeTourneau rallied to tie the game at 86 when Reed hit a 3 pointer with 1:41 left in the extra session. Stephens for LeTourneau tied the game for the 10
th time when she made a put back attempt with 10 seconds to play. Each team blocked attempts at potential decisive shots in the closing seconds to force a second overtime.
In the second overtime, Howard Payne quickly built a five-point lead, 98-93 with 1:45 to play. Again, LeTourneau proved to be resilient and cut the deficit to one, 98-97, With 57 seconds to play when
Alexandra Burroughs made one of two free throws. HPU stretched the lead a lay-up and sealed the victory, making 3 of 4 free throws down the stretch for the final margin.
This marks the second-straight year that LETU has had a double overtime game. Last year, LeTourneau dropped an 81-76 double overtime decision to Concordia. The last double overtime game at home was on January 31, 2008 when they were defeated 70-67 by Mississippi College.
It will be a quick turnaround for LeTourneau as they host Sul Ross State on Saturday, Jan. 17 at 1 p.m. in Solheim Arena.Â
