The LeTourneau University women's basketball team snapped a 11-game losing skid with one of its best games of the season in a 90-65 win over Sul Ross State on Saturday in Longview.
LeTourneau (4-11, 2-8 ASC) poured in 90 points – its second highest output of the season – and had three players in double digits in the victory. LETU senior
Rebecca Stewart – was in double digits for the seventh time in the last eight games – scored a team-best 16 points, junior
Ashley Stephens, who returned to the starting lineup, scored 15 points and sophomore
Ashley Crockett – who made her first start of the season – added 10 points.

11-different YellowJackets broke into the scoring ledger and 10 contributed a rebound, which pleased the first year head coach
Leslie Reinecker. "We got contributions from everyone on our team for this one and we will need that game as we head into the second round of conference play. We are just focusing on getting a little better every day and hopefully we can put it all together at the right time down the stretch." Also, in the win, LeTourneau handed out a season-best 17 assists on a season-best 33 field goals.

Sul Ross State (3-11, 2-7 ASC) lost for the fourth time in a row despite a 19-point effort from reserve Ivette Trujillo. She was joined in double figures by Desare Allen and Ashley Ousley, who had 14 and 12 points, respectively.

14 seconds into the contest, Stephens put LETU on the scoreboard and in front for the rest of the contest. LETU started the game on a 19-4 run with 11 points coming from Stephens. Trujillo and SRSU rallied to cut the deficit, later in the half to eight – 29-21 with 4:59 left in the first half. LeTourneau closed out the first 20 minutes on a 13-4 run for a 48-31 halftime lead. The hot shooting Houston native scored 13 of her 17 in the first half to spark LETU, who shot at a 51.4% clip for the first 20 minutes. Defensively, LeTourneau forced 10 turnovers which translated into 22 points for the host YellowJackets.

LeTourneau kept the lead at double digits for the rest of the contest. After holding SRSU to 40.7% shooting in the first half, the YellowJacket defense held the Lobos to just 37.5% shooting in the final 20 minutes. In addition, the YellowJackets held Sul Ross State without a field goal in the final 2:24. For LETU, Stewart scored eight of her 16 and Crockett had five of her 10 for LeTourneau. Twice, Sul Ross State cut the deficit to 17 in the second half.

The YellowJackets will have another quick turnaround when they host East Texas Baptist, who they defeated on December 2, 74-55 in Marshall.
