Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

A Complete Team Effort Leads LETU Men's Soccer to 3-0 Win Over Louisiana College

An all-around team effort led the LeTourneau University men's soccer team to a 3-0 win over Louisiana College on Friday afternoon in Longview.

The YellowJackets (3-7-1, 1-3 ASC) quickly got on the scoreboard in the third minute when sophomore Noah Peters flicked in a shot after a breakaway by freshman Chris Marquez (pictured) that put the home team ahead. LeTourneau added to its lead when Marquez scored his second goal of the season, converting on a penalty kick for a 2-0 advantage. Later in the half, senior Jay Huemoeller (featured in post-game interview below) scored his second goal of the season after taking a pass from sophomore Alan Flores in the 65th minute for the final margin.

Louisiana College (1-10, 0-5 ASC) goalkeeper Nathan Gautreaux had 11 saves in the loss. Boneco Bazil and Victor Almeida each had two shots for the Wildcats in the defeat.

LETU junior goalkeeper Miguel Cabrera recorded his second shutout on the season as an anchor to the defense and the YellowJackets posted a 21-7 advantage in shots for the offense. Sophomore Jacob Ribbe led the attack with five shots as 12-different players had a shot in the win.

Next, LeTourneau will wrap up the weekend with a 3 p.m. tilt against Belhaven.
