The LeTourneau University women's basketball team lost to NCAA Division II member, Texas A&M University-Commerce, 101-70 on Saturday in Commerce.
The YellowJackets (1-2) shot 42.2% (27-for-64) from the field, including a 42.1% (8-for-19) clip from beyond the 3-point line in the loss. Three members of the LETU squad – juniors 
LaTanya Drakes (19 points), 
Crystal Jones (17 points) and 
Ashley Reed (13 points) – scored in double figures.
The Lions (1-2) shot at a 49.3% (35-for-71) average for the win including six players – with all five starters - in double figures. Princess Davis accounted for a game-high 20 to lead A&M-Commerce. Amari Jones added 16, Audrisa Harrison and Krystal Pickron each had 11 and Shomari Harris and Gabby Scott each scored 10.
 
Crystal Jones put LETU ahead with her first two baskets of the game for an early 5-4 lead before a 14-3 run by the host Lions put them ahead for the rest of the contest. LeTourneau cut the deficit to as little as five on three occasions, last, 28-23 when YellowJackets' junior 
Ashley Crockett made a layup with 9:29 to go in the second quarter. However, the home team came back with 10 unanswered points for a double digit lead for the rest of the contest.  The YellowJackets would only get as close as 14 in the final 30 minutes.
 
The game was a reunion of sorts with A&M-Commerce assistant coach Markeith Brown, who served as an assistant for LeTourneau for the past six seasons. In addition, A&M-Commerce is the alma mater for LETU head athletic trainer 
Portia Phillips as well as athletic director 
Terri Deike.
 
Next, LeTourneau will travel to Seguin, Texas to face Texas Lutheran on Friday, Nov. 27 at 4 p.m. and Schreiner University on Saturday, Nov. 28 at noon.
