A balanced effort by the LeTourneau University women's basketball team led the YellowJackets to a 60-46 win over Schreiner on Saturday in Seguin.
The YellowJackets (2-3) were led by the 19-point effort from junior
Crystal Jones, who has been in double figures in all five games. Three teammates -
Bria Goodman,
Ashley Reed and
LaTanya Drakes - each had seven in the winning cause.
The Mountaineers (1-6) were limited to 20.8% (11-for-53) shooting from the field as Kelsie Jackson scored a team-high nine points to lead Schreiner.
Back-to-back baskets by Jones put LeTourneau ahead 40-36 to start the fourth period. Then, the offense and defense teamed up to stifle the Mountaineers for the rest of the period. LeTourneau outscored Schreiner, 24-10 and 16.7% (2-for-12) shooting from the field en route to the win.
The YellowJackets will now turn its attention to the rigorous Lone Star Conference play with a contest against Sul Ross State on Thursday, Dec. 3 at 5:30 p.m.
