The LeTourneau University baseball team demonstrated plate discipline in a 3-2, 11-inning win over Mary Hardin-Baylor in the first round of the 2015 ASC Baseball Championship Tournament in Austin.
Â
The YellowJackets (18-15) with the bases loaded saw junior
Bryce Henry rally from a 2-2 count to patiently take two balls from reliever K.J. Stark to push across the winning run for LETU. Earlier in the inning, senior
Ryan Bertram started the inning with a hit-by-pitch. Then, he was sacrificed into scoring position by junior
Dillon Yates and the Cru elected to intentionally walk to put runners on first and second for junior pinch-hitter
Brandon Applewhite. The Rhome, Texas worked a full count from Stark before delivering a single to load the bases for Henry, who delivered the walk-off walk.
Â
Not to be overshadowed, LETU senior starter
Justin Jenkins (pictured below) pitched his seventh complete game – fourth in a row - of the season in the win. The Hallsville native allowed 10 hits and struck out three in 11 innings and 158 pitches for the win to improve to 6-3. The LeTourneau offense had nine hits in the win including three from sophomore
Kyle Jacobs and two more from
Taylor Empkey.

Justin JenkinsThe Cru (19-21) spread 10 hits among six players including a three-hit game by Will Stafford in the loss. Kreece Cooper, the starter, pitched nine innings of eight-hit ball in a no decision. Cory Farr, who entered the game in the 10
th, pitched 1.1 of relief, allowed a walk and a hit in the loss to fall 4-2.
