The LeTourneau University volleyball team split a pair of matches at the Austin College Invitational on Friday in Sherman, Texas. The YellowJackets started the day with a 25-15, 25-23, 25-18 win over St. Gregory's (Oklahoma) and ended the day with a 19-25, 21-25, 25-18, 17-25 loss to host Austin College.

The YellowJackets (2-5) began the tournament with a convincing win with a balanced attack over the Cavaliers. Junior
Dolores Kroese had a team-high nine kills and two blocks, senior
Alli Bordelon added 17 digs and a pair of service aces and sophomore
Nicole Mosley and junior
Korissa White added 16 and 12 assists, respectively. LETU out hit the Cavaliers, .220 to .057 in the win. The .220 hitting percentage for the YellowJackets is a season-high.

In set one, the two teams traded the first four points before a four-point spurt by the YellowJackets put LeTourneau ahead for the rest of the set. In the spurt, freshman
Schuyler Wages had a pair of kills and Bordelon had the first of her two service aces.
In set two, the score was tied on 11 occasions and the lead exchanged hands on five occasions. With the set tied at 23, Kroese had her fourth kill of the set and a kill by junior
Korissa White gave the YellowJackets a two-set lead.
In set three, a decisive six-point run midway through the set proved to be the difference. LETU sophomore
Savanna Stutts had four kills as the YellowJackets hit at a match-high .243 clip for the win.

In the second match of the day, Austin College out hit LeTourneau, .199 to .112. Kroese had her second double double of the young season with 10 kills and 14 digs; Mosley had 20 assists and three aces and Bordelon added 12 digs, two assists and an ace.
In set one, LETU raced out to an early 4-2 lead before the host 'Roos scored the next five points to take a 7-4 lead and an advantage for the rest of the set. The YellowJackets would get as close as five in the opening set. Kroese had six of her 10 kills for LETU.
In set two, for the second-straight set, the YellowJackets came out on fire. This time, the YellowJackets held an early 7-1 lead until the 'Roos came back to tie it at 7. The set would be tied on five occasions and the lead would exchange hands on three occasions. Austin College took a lead at 12-11 and for the rest of the set.
In set three, the YellowJackets rallied from an early 9-5 deficit to take an 11-9 lead. The YellowJackets never relinquished the lead en route to a 25-18 victory. In the set,
A.J. Campbell had four kills and a pair of block assists, plus Kroese and Bordelon each had five digs.
In set four, the two teams went back and forth with the score being tied on three occasions including 4-4. However, a three-point spurt gave host Austin College just enough cushion for the rest of the set.

The YellowJackets will wrap up the tournament on Saturday when the face Southwestern University and the University of Dallas at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., respectively.
