The LeTourneau University volleyball team split in its two matches on the final day of the Pacific Coast Classic in LaVerne, California on Saturday.
The YellowJackets (1-4) went five sets in both matches which tends to be the early trend for LeTourneau in 2015. Four of the five matches for LETU have been decided in five sets. LeTourneau started the day with a 25-14, 25-18, 17-25, 17-25, 15-8 win over Pacific (Oregon) and ended the day with an 18-25, 14-25, 25-16, 25-21, 11-15 loss to Whittier College.

"We showed a lot of heart in our four matches in California," said LETU head coach
Scott Peluso. "It was a gutsy effort in both matches, today, especially in the match against Whittier. We were down 0-2 and came back to push a fifth set. I love the fight and heart of this team."
In the win over Pacific, LETU junior
Dolores Kroese became the third YellowJacket in the young season with a double double. The Twin Falls, Idaho native had 10 kills and 20 digs to lead a LETU attack that hit .201. Sophomore
Savanna Stutts added 10 kills and sophomore
A.J. Campbell had nine kills and four block assists in the win. Sophomore Nicole Mosely and junior
Korissa White had 18 and 11 assists, respectively. Seniors
Alli Bordelon and
Kayla Ronda had 20 and 13 digs, respectively.

In the loss to Whittier, Mosley had her third double double of the season – 20 assists and 11 digs. Bordelon registered a season-high 30 digs; in addition, Kroese and freshman
Schuyler Wages added 10 and nine kills, respectively. Ronda added two service aces and 15 digs in the defeat. In the defeat, LeTourneau dropped the opening set for the first time in five matches.

The YellowJackets will next travel to the Austin College Tournament, Sept. 11-12 in Sherman, Texas. LeTourneau will face Saint Gregory's and host Austin College on Friday, Sept. 11 at 2 and 6 p.m., respectively. Then, they will wrap up the tournament with contests against Southwestern University and University of Dallas on Saturday, Sept. 12 at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., respectively.Â
