LETU Volleyball Falls in Four to Hardin-Simmons at ASC Crossover

LeTourneau volleyball won the opening set but couldn't finish off the Cowgirls as they fell 3-1 to Hardin-Simmons in the first match of the ASC crossover in Richardson, Texas.

The YellowJackets (7-17, 0-8 ASC) scored five unanswered points in the first set to jump out to an 18-12 lead over HSU. LeTourneau would go on to win 25-22 as seven different YellowJackets recorded kills in the opening set.

"I am really proud of my girls for how we came out in that opening set. I think it was the most complete that set that we have played all season," said head coach Scott Peluso.

The Cowgirls would pick up their defense as they came back to win the match 3-1, taking the next three sets 25-14, 25-18, 25-10. Hardin-Simmons improved to 11-8 on the season with the win and now have a 7-3 record in the ASC.

Freshman Mikayla Thomas led the way with seven kills for LeTourneau with seniors Dolores Henson and Skylar Horan hammering home six apiece. Nicole Mosley and senior Korissa White each had 15 assists as they set up the LETU attack.

Jenny Olejar was big on the other side of the net for the YellowJackets as she recorded four in the match. Kelsie Jeffries and Liz Williams had 19 and 15 digs to lead the LETU defense.

The YellowJackets will be back on the court tomorrow morning for a 10:00 matchup with UMHB and also have a match with Howard Payne at 3:00 in Richardson.
