LeTourneau volleyball hosted Dig Pink night on Saturday afternoon but weren't able to take down No. 9 UT Dallas in an ASC East matchup.
The YellowJackets (7-15, 0-6 ASC) came out strong in the first set as they fed off the energy of the Blue Crew who came out wearing their pink. LeTourneau took a 14-10 lead over the Comets with big kills from
Dolores Henson,
Skylar Horan and
Savanna Stutts. LETU hit .212 in the first set but couldn't quite close it out as UT Dallas would come back to take the set 25-21.
The Comets would jump out to a 4-0 lead in the second set but LeTourneau would respond with a run of their own as they closed the lead to one at 10-9.
Nicole Mosley and
Korissa White were setting up their hitters as Mosley notched 13 assists and White recorded 10 to go along with her nine digs. The Comets would score six straight points to take control of the set and claim a 25-16 win.
In the third set the Comets came out hot going up 9-0 before a YellowJacket timeout. LeTourneau wasn't able to bounce back as they lost the final set 25-8.
Dolores Henson finished with eight kills, two blocks and four digs.
Liz Williams led the YellowJackets with 10 digs.
Jenny Olejar also played well defensively as she had three blocks.
Savanna Stutts would finish with seven kills for LETU.
UT Dallas has now won both matchups with the YellowJackets this season and improve to 16-1 on the season and 7-0 in the ASC.
LeTourneau will make the short trip to Marshall next Tuesday for a matchup with ETBU at 7 PM.
