The YellowJackets fell 63-83 to the Tigers on Sunday afternoon in San Antonio despite a 19 point and a career high 21-rebound effort from
LaTanya Drakes. The Gardena, California native has recorded a double-double in the first two games of the season.
Â
LeTourneau (0-2) shot just 29 percent (21-72) from the field in the game and 18 turnovers would plague any chance of a comeback for the YellowJackets.
Â
"We must be more disciplined in what we do and focus on executing what we practice," said head coach
Leslie Reinecker. "We must do a better job of playing as a team instead of relying on individual abilities."
Â
The Tigers went on a 14-2 run to end the first quarter and take an early 20-8 lead. The YellowJackets would respond with a 16-2 run of their own in the second quarter to tie the game at 24.
Crystal Jones had 10 of her 17 points during the scoring barrage for LETU.
Â
Senior
Ashley Crockett was perfect from the floor as she went 3 for 3 from the floor and finished with nine points for LeTourneau.
Â
Trinity would lead by as many as 27 in the second half as Mollie Hughes led all scorers with 20 for the Tigers. A 10-1 LETU run helped to close the margin in the fourth quarter.
Â
The YellowJacket women will complete their road trip with a Tuesday night matchup with Texas Lutheran. Tip-off is set for 5:30 at Memorial Gymnasium in Seguin.
