The LeTourneau University YellowJacket athletic department honored the winter and spring student-athletes on Monday night at the 2015-16 Winter/Spring Sports Banquet.
Luke Funk, a member of the LeTourneau University men's cross country team, took home the LeTourneau University Male Scholar-Athlete Award for the 2015-16 season exemplifying an outstanding record in leadership, academics and athletics.
As a member of the men's cross country team, his performance at the ASC Cross Country Championships propelled the YellowJackets to a second-place team finish. He improved his time by 2:41 from his junior year to his senior year.
As a student, at LeTourneau he has been involved with the Wheels Project and Dr. Karen Rispin, where they traveled to Kenya. He is a part of the Honors College, a supplemental instructor for electric circuits.
Funk is also a member of the LETU chapter of the Biomedical Engineering Society along with Gold Key Honor Society and the Engineering Honor Society. He has recently accepted a full-ride post-graduate scholarship to attend the Harvard–MIT Program of Health Sciences and Technology to pursue a graduate degree in biomedical engineering.
