The LeTourneau University volleyball team opened the season with a three set sweep of Sul Ross State University at the Austin College Classic in Sherman, Texas.

The YellowJackets (1-1, 0-0 ASC)Â opened strong in the first set (25-14) and battled from behind to win close sets to bring home the victory (25-14, 29-27, 27-25).

Scott Peluso commented on the team's ability to continue to fight. "The team showed good resilience after being down in the second two sets but, we managed to fight and come back for the win."

Dolores Henson and sophomore
Ashlyn Johnson led the YellowJackets with 9 kills each. Another sophomore
Kelsie Jeffries helped lead the defense with 12 digs.

The YellowJackets dropped the second match of the tournament in four sets to Pacific University (25-17, 25-19, 21-25, 25-18).

Dolores Henson once again led the YellowJackets in kills, this time joined by junior
Savanna Stutts with ten kills apiece.
Kelsie Jeffries anchored the defense again with 14 digs.

The YellowJackets will continue from Sherman, Texas tomorrow for day two of the Austin College Classic. LETU will play Schreiner University Friday at 2 PM followed by the University of Dallas at 6 PM.
