LETU Volleyball Splits Pair on Day Two of Austin College Classic

LeTourneau University volleyball split a pair of matches today at the Austin College Classic in Sherman, Texas.

The YellowJackets (2-2, 0-0 ASC) dropped the first set of the afternoon match against Schreiner University, but stormed back to win three straight sets in dominate fashion (22-25, 25-15, 25-16, 25-9).

Senior Skylar Horan led the YellowJackets with 12 kills and added 3 blocks while junior Nicole Mosley set up her hitters with 22 assists in the match.

"I was very impressed with our effort today," said head coach Scott Peluso. "Our first match against Schreiner was a complete game. After a slow start we really picked it up. Our offense was really clicking and we hit over .600 in the fourth set. That does not happen unless you are doing well in all phases of the game."

LeTourneau had 15 kills and zero errors in last set as they cruised to close out the match (25-9).

The second match of the day saw the YellowJackets facing off against the University of Dallas. The LETU defense was led by Kelsie Jeffries and Dolores Henson who had 18 and 13 digs respectively.

The YellowJackets won the opening set but the defense of the Crusaders was just too much in the end as they took the match 3-1 (25-21, 21-25, 20-25, 10-25).

Coach Peluso saw some great things from his team saying, "we did some nice things against U Dallas but their defense was outstanding. Overall I am really pleased with how we are playing and look forward to our continued improvement."

The YellowJackets will be able to continue their improvement tomorrow with matches against Centenary College (Louisiana) at 3 PM and will finish the Austin College Classic by facing the host Roos at 5 PM.
