Five YellowJackets Score in Double Figures to Push LETU Win Streak to Seven

LeTourneau improves to 11-4 on the season after a 93-80 victory over Mary Hardin-Baylor on Saturday afternoon. The YellowJackets have now won seven straight games and boast a 5-3 record and a top ranking in the East Division of the American Southwest Conference.

The home win gives the YellowJackets a 9-1 record inside Solheim Arena as they continue to protect their home court.

"It was a great team win tonight as UMHB is very explosive on offense with a lot of weapons. I thought we did a good job of spacing and making the right decisions on offense," said head coach Dan Miller. "There were some good possessions on defense but we need to be more consistent protecting the paint. Overall I am very proud of the guys as they just stay together and believe in getting better each day."

Senior Jeff Martin led the way for LETU as he scored 21 points to follow up his 30-point effort on Thursday night. The Seven Lakes High School product also added nine assists and three steals in the win.

Behind Martin was a host of YellowJackets scoring in double figures including Alec Colhoff who poured in 18 points to go along with 11 rebounds in his first double-double performance of the season and second of his career.

Caylab Herrera added 14 points and seven rebounds. Nate West and Christian Seidl each contributed 12 points. Seidl also dished out three assists and pulled down six rebounds. LeTourneau had 19 assists on 33 made field goals.

LETU led by nine in the opening half but eight Crusader offensive rebounds gave UMHB second chance points as they came back to take a 40-38 lead with 1:04 remaining, drawing a YellowJacket timeout.

LeTourneau would finish the half with five unanswered points as Christian Seidl knocked down a three-point field goal and Jeff Martin found Cordele Jackson under the basket for an easy lay-in to take a 43-40 lead into the locker room.

The YellowJackets would never trail in the second half as they extended their lead to as many as 15 in the final period. Martin scored 15 of his 21 points in the second half on 6-9 shooting from the floor.

UMHB's Demarius Cress kept the game close as he scored a game-high 35 points including 16-19 from the free throw line. LeTourneau used an 11-0 run to bust the lead back open and put the Crusaders away for good.

The YellowJackets will look to extend their winning streak next week as they continue their home stand at Solheim Arena. LETU will be hosting University of the Ozarks on Thursday with a 7:30 p.m. start and UT Dallas rolls into town on Saturday for a 3:00 p.m. tip in more ASC action.
