Game Recap: Baseball |

LeTourneau Drops Twin Bill to No. 13 UT Dallas

The YellowJackets went extra innings in the series finale with No. 13 ranked UT Dallas but weren't able to steal a game on the road as they dropped both games of the Saturday doubleheader in Richardson.

LeTourneau (6-14, 0-9 ASC) took an early lead in game one but couldn't hold on as the Comets scored five unanswered runs in the fourth and sixth inning to take the 7-2 victory.

Kyle Jacobs went 2-for-3 at the plate and scored two runs for the YellowJacket offense. Senior Jacob Simmons and sophomore Ryan Conger each picked up an RBI in the seven-inning bout.

Freshman Haden Simmons falls to 1-3 on the season giving up four runs on four hits and walking three in his three-inning effort. Luke Ludwig pitched three innings of relief and gave up three runs on three hits.

The series finale would require extra innings as the two teams were deadlocked at three runs apiece after nine innings. The Comets would load the bases and score on a fielder's choice to take the 4-3 win in the bottom of 11th inning.

Gonzalo Sosa knocked a two-run homer over the fence in the fourth inning to tie the game at 2-2 after UTD scored two runs in the third inning.

Trailing 3-2 in the top of the eighth inning, senior Kyle Jacobs homered for the third time this season and tied the game again.

LETU couldn't find the crucial run in extra innings and fell to the nationally ranked Comets to end the weekend series.

Kyle Buchanan takes the loss and drops to 0-2 on the year as he gave up one run on three hits in his 4.2 innings. The sophomore slinger struck out five and forced six groundouts the relief effort.

Sophomore starter Andrew Harlan struck out two in his six innings. The Lewisville product gave up two runs on six hits.

LeTourneau now prepares for a midweek duel with Wiley College on Tuesday, March 21st. The Wildcats will enter the game with a 5-21 record. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m. from Conrad-Vernon Field on the LETU campus.
